Awareness 

Although the beach is quiet most days, there is an element of lewdity from those (mostly men) that don't understand that nude freedom is not sexual freedom. If you wouldn't do it on La Jolla Beach, don't do it here (minus the clothes). This unfortunate News report brings up awareness that lewd behavior is unlawful, but it also endangers our right to be clothing optional. Please have fun in the sun with the freedom we currently have, but do your part to help keep it that way!

Black's Beach Drum Circle

We used to have a nice "hippie" group that loved the earth moon and stars. They supported love and joy. They used to hold drum circles on the beach at the full moon as a ceremony to honor nature and our part within it. San Diego is a large city with many diverse cultures and religions. Unfortunately, over time, other non-loving people heard about this freedom of a dark night with fire and no supervision and took advantage. The numbers grew upwards of a thousand and drugs, alcohol and guns showed up. Gangs made marks and there were stabbings, shootings and many injuries. The police now shut the parking lot down at night and patrol the beach giving out tickets. Let this be a reminder that our freedom to be naked is a privilege not a right.
